PROVEN
ENERGY-EFFICIENT INFRARED GAS TUBE HEATERS FOR HARD-TO-HEAT
RESIDENTIAL AREAS CAN SAVE UP TO 50% OR MORE ON FUEL COSTS
(R) |
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- A new economic, efficient
and easy to install and maintain residential gas heater based on
proven radiant heat technology that is especially suited for hard-to-heat
areas such as residential garages, workshops, vestibules or entry
ways, enclosed patios, greenhouses and barns has been introduced
by Space-Ray of Charlotte, N. C.
Previously
available only for industrial applications such as warehouses,
manufacturing plants and auto body shops, the new series of compact,
unitized 9 foot 3 inch long industrial strength Cold Blacker™ Infrared
Gas Tube Heaters offer homeowners and remodelers the ability to
heat areas previously left unheated or heated at a high cost.
Available
in natural and propane gas, benefits of the new Space-Ray Cold
Blocker heater includes energy efficiencies ranging up to 84.5%,
fuel savings ranging from 30 to 50% or more compared to other types
of conventional heating systems and improved comfort levels.
Heaters
can be mounted at heights ranging from 6 to 20 feet above the floor
and angle mounted up to 45 degrees to conform to specific room
heating requirements and maximize efficiency. Monitoring lights
on the burner provide visual diagnosis for ease of maintenance.
An optional space thermostat also monitors the desired heating
comfort level.
"We designed these heaters based on input from
the field for a residential version of our highly successful and
proven energy efficient industrial heaters which we have been marketing
for over 35 years," noted Bob Genisol, Vice
President of Sales for Space-Ray. "The industrial heaters were too long
for smaller applications, so we designed a more compact version with smaller
BTU sizes. With this heater, homeowners can now afford to warm hard-to-heat
areas such as garages."
Genisol noted that the heaters are based on radiant
heat technology.
"Unlike forced-air and other heating systems that works from the top down,
radiant heat works much likes the sun's rays heating from the bottom
up, warming people, floors and machines first," he said. "This maintains
a uniform warmth within the heated space for optimum comfort, energy savings
and lower fuel bills."
COLD BLOCKER FEATURES DESCRIBED
The Space-Ray Cold Blocker comes in a smooth, cast iron U-Tube
design for uniform heat distribution and in four different capacities
ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 Btu/hr. All models are design certified
by the Canadian Gas Association Laboratories (C.G.A.).
A typical
two or three car garage can be heated with a 30,000 Btu/hr unit
whereas colder climates may require 40,000 or 50,000 Btu/hr units.
For
optimum reliability and durability, the heaters are designed with
a heavy-duty one-piece cast iron burner; a calorized aluminized
steel radiant heater emitter tube and highly efficient aluminum
reflectors for added heating efficiency.
The Cold Blocker's unitized
design also lowers installation cost and results in less maintenance
and simpler arrangement within the area to be heated. Since the
heaters are shipped factory pre-assembled, they can be installed
by any qualified HVAC contractor. For mounting heights of 6 to
8 feet, an optional low mounting kit with emitter guards is available.
Heaters must also be vented outside the structure with a flue pipe.
A unique self-contained pull through, maintenance-free draft inducer
pulls the hot gases through the emitter tube for a more uniform
tube temperature, increased radiant efficiency and greater safety.
Safety is also enhanced by the direct spark ignition system with
step opening gas valve, 100% shut-off control and a 30-second pre-purge.
The highly efficient aluminum reflector ends are enclosed to assure
maximum radiant heat output and minimum convection loss. All the
radiant energy product is directed toward the area or space being
heated for maximum heating efficiency. The calorized aluminized
steel emitter increases the heat transfer rate and corrosion resistance
of the emitter surface for long life and maximum emitter tube temperature.
Other optional accessories include a deflector kit
for reduced clearances to combustibles below the heaters and a
decorative grille kit for drop ceiling applications.
The burner comes with a 10 year limited warranty and the emitter
tube with a five year limited warranty.
Besides residential applications, the Cold Blocker is also well
suited for light commercial applications such as heating farm buildings,
clubhouses, swimming pools, solariums, golf course driving ranges,
storage warehouses, barns, mechanical rooms, restaurant overhangs,
greenhouses and other small unheated areas. For these applications,
the heaters can be vented, common vented, or indirect vented.
The
first U. S. manufacturer to design and market unitized tube heaters
in 1968, Space -Ray has over 44 years of field experience and exposure
to industrial and now residential and light commercial heating
problems. Some of Space-Ray's industrial heaters are still providing
trouble free operation after 30 years of service.
Besides the Cold Blocker, Space-Ray offers a complete line of industrial
radiant heaters including the LTS series of unitized low-intensity
tube heaters, the LTU series of low-intensity U-tube heaters, the
ETS/ETU line of low-intensity radiant tube heaters, a complete
line of DK and RSCA ceramic heaters and radiant floor heaters.
