Frequently Asked Questions

How long has Space-Ray been manufacturing infrared radiant gas heaters?

Space-Ray infrared gas heaters are manufactured by Gas-Fired Products, Inc., which was founded in 1949 and has been manufacturing infrared heaters since 1958. Our heaters are certified by C.S.A (a nationally recognized testing laboratory – NRTL) and carry the CSA seal. All heaters are tested and meet or exceed all safety requirements set forth in American National Standard Z83.20.

Technical

Why is a Space-Ray infrared?

• Infrared heaters warm people and machinery directly, just as the sun, instead of blowing warm air which rises to the ceiling and makes the floor level the difficult to heat.

• These heaters can achieve greater efficiency, economy, and fuel savings than convection heaters while still providing a high level of comfort heat.

• Space-Ray’s heavy gauge stainless steel heat exchanger maximizes radiant energy transfer and the high operating temperature means greater radiant efficiency.

• The heavy duty construction and quality components offer years of reliable service.

How many square feet does a heater cover?

Depending on building heat loss, approximate area coverage is 1500-4500 square feet.

Are there applications for which Space-Ray infrared radiant gas heaters are NOT suitable?

You may not use gas-fired infrared heaters inside paint booths or in buildings where explosion-proof lights are required.
RFPA Series is not certified for residential use or as a permanent heating system..

Do Space-Ray heaters have UL certification?

Because our infrared gas heaters are gas appliances, it is not necessary that they be listed by UL (a nationally recognized testing laboratory – NRTL); however, all of the electrical component parts are UL listed (e.g., the draft inducer motors, which are equipped with CSA and UL approved thermal protectors). Our heaters are certified by C.S.A. (a nationally recognized testing laboratory – NRTL) and carry the CSA seal. All heaters are tested and meet or exceed all safety requirements set forth in American National Standard for infrared heaters.
